The first workshop on the issue of normalization of relations between Boegrade and Pristina – Pristina, 17, 18, 19 April 2013
In order to support the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, the Forum for Ethnic Relations in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Stifung is organizing a series of workshops on the impact of various actors in the process of normalization. The first workshop – The role of journalists and media in the process of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina was held from 17 to 19 April 2013 in Pristina. The workshop aimed to establish open dialogue between media representatives from Serbia and Kosovo for a common review of the role the media have in the process of normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
The first day of the workshop started with the media representatives traveling from Belgrade to Pristina and a working dinner with associates and media representatives from Pristina. On the second day, the workshop was divided into three thematic areas: Is the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade leading to normalization of relations? (achievements and risks of the current dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina); What should be contained in the agreement on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina?; Journalists and media on the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade. Moderators and panelists were: Thorsten Geissler (Konrad Adenauer), Matthias Kiesler (Deputy Germany Ambassador in Pristina), Samuel Žbogar (EU Special Representative in Pristina), Anja Czymmeck (Director of the Konard Adenauer Stifung Representative in Skopje and Pristina , Nenad Đurđević (Dnevnik), Engjellushe Morina (International Relations Council, Pristina), Ilir Deda (KIPRED), Nikola Tomić (daily Danas), Arben Ahmeti (daily Koha Ditore), Dr Dušan Janjić (Forum for Ethnic Relations). After introductory speeches, discussions were held on the above topics. The last day of the workshop included a working breakfast and a return trip to Belgrade.
The Forum for Ethnic Relations is planning to continue to organize workshops and debates on relations between Belgrade and Pristina, more precisely the roles of different actors in the process of normalization.
