A group of internally displaced Serbs from Kosovo invited the UN special representative Kai Aide to meet with them and see first-hand their living conditions, which will give him a clear picture of the application of standards in Kosovo and Metohija.

At the roundtable organized by the Forum for Ethnic Relations, internally displaced Serbs accused the international bureaucracy for falsifying reports from the ground, giving an unrealistic picture of the situation and thus misleading the officials of international institutions about the real situation in Kosovo and Metohija.

Nebojša Zorić, Dragan Stolić, and Drmončić gave a series of examples from everyday life that corroborate such thesis, and a ten-minute film was shown about the conditions in their settlements that were compared with camps.

Dr Dušan Janjić, Coordinator of the Forum for Ethnic Relations, strongly criticized the official Belgrade which “led a wrong policy last year, because Kosovo was not a priority”.

“Officials in Belgrade do not control the situation in Kosovo because they do not cooperate with Serbs living there”, Dr. Janjić said.

Participants at the round table in Belgrade’s Media Center concluded that they no longer have any hope in decisions by the UNMIK administrator Hans Jensen-Petersen’s decision, but believe that Kai Aide’s mission, if fair, will trigger the improvement of conditions and the situation on the ground.
